Who We Are

Mountain View Eco Farm is a not for profit NGO to be based in the Pokhara Valley of Nepal. The idea and driving impetus for the project was developed by Govinda Bedraj. Having grown up on an organically run farm, Govinda moved to Pokahara where he found work managing the Sustainable Agriculture Development Program of Nepal's (SADP) demonstration farm, which he helped run for a number of years. Given this experience and his concern at the state of agriculture in Nepal, he decided to establish his own project to further the cause of Sustainable Agriculture in Nepal.

Mountain View Eco Farm will strive to increase living standards in Nepal, through the education and demonstration of sustainable agricultural practices to the wider Nepali agrarian community. The Nepali agrarian community makes up the majority of Nepal's population, and is struggling with ever diminishing fertility and thus economic returns - due to unsustainable Western farming practices. This is pushing the population further into poverty, or forcing people to leave Nepal and find work in India and the Gulf States.

Project Aim

We aim to help reverse these trends by educating and concretely demonstrating to farmers that sustainable agriculture and permaculture practices can lead to a better quality of life, and ultimately for a healthier and more prosperous Nepal.

The direct actions we will take to achieve our goal includes the following:

  • Running permaculture and sustainable agriculture workshops with the agrarian population of Pokhara Valley and beyond including those affected by HIV-AIDS.
  • Partnering with local school districts to host school groups and involve children in first hand educational activities related to sustainable agriculture.
  • Hosting international volunteers to support our sustainable agricultural activities in every way possible, exchanging skills and cultures in the process.

The Campaign

Our campaign is aimed at raising the $4000 needed to establish Mountain View Eco Farm. If we manage to raise the funds needed, we will be able to purchase enough land, animals and farm basics to become self sufficient and thrive into the future.

Donating

Simply choose the sum of money you would like to donate on the right of the screen. Each amount will allow us to buy a small portion of land along with a needed farm item. If someone donates before you and say, buys the farm dog, we will get in touch with you and tell you how we spent your donation. By donating, you can help make this dream of ours a reality!

Thanks for your contributions!
